Miguel C. wins a Guitar!
Miguel C., a second grader in Ms. Hinojosa's room, won a brand new guitar for composing his own song based on Hurricanes. The challenge that Ms. West proposed to the class was to create an original song about Hurricanes to the tune of "We will Rock You!". Stay tuned for Miguel's song! Congratulations to our little musician! You rock, Miguel!
A Message from Mrs. Cupp ~
We officially completed the second quarter and survived the blizzard of 2015! It has been a little challenging the last couple of days with all the snow but thanks to so many of you, we made it! Thank you to our neighbors for helping clean our sidewalks, thank you to our parents for helping us shovel the slush so students can get through, and thank you to all our students who made it to school even on the coldest and snowiest days of the year. And, let us not forget our staff for doing their best as they tracked through mounds of snow to be here for the children. Thank you all: we made it! We make a great team.
The second quarter report card will be sent home with your child next week, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015. We hope that when you receive it, you review it with your child. For the majority of our students and their parents, the report is welcomed with good news. However, in case your child needs improvement in reading and /or mathematics make arrangements to meet with your child’s teacher and ask about tutoring opportunities so that we can all be part of your child’s success. The success of your children is our success.
Thank you for your constant support.

Welcome Back Hurley Hawks!
Welcome back to the school year 2014-2015. If you were here last school year, we are happy to see you again. If you are new to the Hurley family, we welcome you and hope your child takes advantage of the programs and extracurricular activities that we provide. At Hurley, we are preparing our students to become citizens of the world. We are educating our students so they can compete in a global society.
Why do we offer these kinds of experiences? So that our students gain experiences in addition to general education. It is important that students find and develop their talents (academically, artistically, and/or athletically). Perhaps a student could find his/her voice in science, or a student could play a sport or takes the opportunity to perform at a school assembly. The importance of joining these activities will help students take on academic challenges and succeed. We hope you can attend the different activities/assemblies throughout the school year so that you, too, can see the results of your child’s work throughout the year.
Thank you to those of you who attended the "Meet and Greet" event last week. We would like to invite everybody to our annual "Open House" on September 18, 2014 - from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. See you soon and welcome!
